About Missy

Missy McGee has served as state representative for House District 102 since 2017. Representing Central Hattiesburg, she serves as Chair of the House Medicaid Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations A, Universities and Colleges, Rules and Transportation committees.

Long before she was a legislator, she was known as the “one you call when you want something done.” Whether as a volunteer in any number of community organizations, administrator in her family’s business or instructor at Southern Miss, there are usually a few specific words and phrases used to describe Missy McGee. These include “doer” and “servant leader.”

Missy was born, raised and spent nearly her entire life in Hattiesburg. The only years she lived elsewhere were the three that she spent in Washington, D.C., serving as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Trent Lott. She’s a product of the Hattiesburg Public School District and The University of Southern Mississippi, where she received her bachelor of science and master of arts degrees in speech communication. She’s also been an instructor at Southern Miss in speech communication.

Missy has been actively involved in the community for decades. Some of her many achievements and contributions include:
